"India has the potential to leapfrog and become a leading nation in artificial intelligence, and we must seize this opportunity”

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to address many of India's developmental challenges, ranging from agriculture to healthcare to education. AI has the potential to transform various sectors in India and can play a crucial role in the country's development. The Indian government in the recent budget has allocated resources and incentives to promote AI-based research and development to support India's growth.

For realising this vision of "Make AI in India and Make AI work for India", three centres of excellence for Artificial Intelligence will be set up in top educational institutions. Leading industry players will partner in conducting interdisciplinary research, developing cutting-edge applications and scalable problem solutions in the areas of agriculture, health, and sustainable cities. This will galvanise an effective AI ecosystem and nurture quality human resources in the field.
